Breastfeeding Help

nursingbabysqThere are many great reasons to breastfeed your baby or child.Just like pregnancy, your body knows what to do and starts the lactation process. You may not realize how much there is to know until you have a problem. Then you may wonder...Who do I call?

You may be surprised to learn that your OB/GYN,Pediatrician or other Health Care Provider is not the best person to get breastfeeding information from. They are just not educated in how breastfeeding works when they go to school. There are lots of things--big and small--that can complicate breastfeeding.  Breastfeeding is an art with a science behind it.

Donna Bruschi, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) has the education, training and supervised clinical hours necessary to answer all your questions accurately and help you to resolve any breastfeeding issue.

If you have a question about breasts, nipples, breastfeeding, bras, breast pumps, pumping or breastfed babies, Donna can either help you or refer you to someone who can help you.

For immediate help with a breastfeeding problem, text or call Donna at (845) 750-4402. You can even call at 2 in the morning (especially at 2 in the morning...)

To ask a question via email: Fill out the contact form, Donna will get back to you within 24 hours.

moms sqYou have been entrusted with a small being (or several small beings) with the wrong instructions and no guidance. You are expected to keep them safe, warm, fed, rested and happy without sleep, regular meals or bathroom breaks. You are expected to remain calm, cheerful, optimistic and happy at all times. (And the pearls, apron, high heels and bon-bons? Where are they!)

Your role as a mother mystifies you. Why didn't anyone tell you how hard it would be. ...Or, how much you would love your baby...Maybe they did and you just didn't understand what they meant at the time. Even when you solve one problem, five more spring up to take its place. You feel inept, unsure, and definitely unshowered, most of the time.

What you probably need is a little reassurance to be confident that you are a good mother. Mother to mother support is a sanity saver. Just knowing: "I am not the only one!" creates great relief. Most of us were not raised observing babies being mothered. When you sit in a circle of peers, you hear their experiences and it usually makes your situation feel more reassuring.

New Baby New Paltz Mother to Mother social groups are open to all mothers. It doesn't matter what parenting, lifestyle or feeding choices you have made. You are welcome.
